We are already big fans of Burn Notice – and the show “White Collar” is in the same vein – a great looking, entertaining show with some eye-candy thrown in for good measure.

Matt Bomer plays Neal Caffrey – an ex-con who now helps the FBI bring down other con artists. The man wears a suit extremely well – take note all you aspiring Hollywood wannabes. Tiffani Thiessen and Marsha Thomason help stop the male audience from changing channels.

The storylines are great, the look very stylish, making it another Style Guide favourite.

We have previously lauded the Drobo for being one of the most stylish storage solutions available. It is about as sleek, sophisticated and easy to use as a piece of technology can get. Recently, however, we came across the ioSafe Solo.

If the Drobo is the Pierce Brosnan of storage, the ioSafe would more likely be Ranulph Fiennes. Sir Ranulph, an ex-SAS officer, was shortlisted for the role of James Bond but then turned down after famed producer Cubby Broccoli told him “your hands are too big and you’ve got a face like a farmer” (according to an interview on the BBC’s “Top Gear”). So he may not be the most stylish man alive, but he sure is durable, having survived countless adventures on both poles as well as every point in between. The ioSafe is much the same – it doesn’t look that great, having similar style to most regular pieces of technology (silver – check, flashing lights – check). However, when it comes to protecting your data it certainly fits the bill, being fireproof, waterproof and crushproof (as demonstrated on the BBC). For that we can forgive the appearance, because, much like Sir Ranulph, actions speak louder than words, and the ioSafe proves that it can perform in the most extreme conditions. To put it simply, there is no better way for a gentleman to protect his digital memories and other important data.

Renowned designer Jeremy Scott adds his style to the already iconic Tanqueray No. Ten, one of our favourite spirits.

There is no secret that we like a stylish beverage. Even more so when the container is a work of art itself. So is the case with the latest version of Tanqueray No. Ten.

Jeremy Scott, the renowned American designer known for his bold style, has been given the job of dressing the elegant and iconic bottle of Tanqueray No. Ten gin for the UK.

Scott has infused the classic world of Tanqueray No. Ten with his own vision, producing a captivating design for the new limited-edition packaging that will now encase the signature green bottle of the luxury gin.

Scott’s sleek, geometric black casing, has been designed to perfectly clothe the angled design of the Tanqueray No. Ten bottle, reinforcing the air of sophistication that surrounds the spirit itself. However, the box opens to reveal a jazzy and extravagant print of olives and cocktail glasses, representing the glamour of the martini cocktail, but with an infusion of Scott’s own signature style.

And what’s more, the liquid inside is still as luscious as ever. Bartender, another G&T please…

Looking for the epitome of style at the movies? Look no further than Grace Kelly and Cary Grant in Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief".

Are you looking for an effortly sylish French Riviera thriller from the best director in the business? Then you need to look back to Hitchcock’s 1955 To Catch a Thief.

Some critics say that the movie lacks substance, but what it lacks in substance it definitely makes up for with style. Following on from his more serious works Dial M for Murder and Rear Window, this languid picture showcases it’s two main stars, Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, as well as the picturesque location – the Côte d’Azur in France.

Cary Grant plays John “The Cat” Robie, a retired jewel thief who attempts to clear his name after a copycat starts stealing from wealthy Riviera tourists. In his search he meets wealthy widow Jessie Stevens, and her beautiful daughter Frances. The insurance adjuster for the Stevens agrees to help Robie catch the thief. What follows is a lush, lazy trip through a relatively transparent plot, but with the benefit of seeing Grace Kelly in her natural habitat – dressing like a princess in spectacular surroundings. Cary Grant does his bit too – and all in all it is a gorgeous romantic thriller with the touch of the master to mark it out – escapism at its best.

The Body Shop has harnessed the magic of the maca root to produce a great men's moisturizer - so good that it earns our seal of approval...

In our original Face Time post we really liked the Body Shop For Men Face Protector, but it did have a few shortcomings – the consistency of the lotion was a little thick for our liking, and it lacked sun protection.

The Body Shop now has an updated product – the For Men Maca Root Energetic Face Protector, and we like it. The texture and consistency are much better, and it also provides SPF 15 protection. It really tightens the skin, and doesn’t clog the pores. We are not sure we really believe all the claims about the properties and virtues of the root, but we are definitely impressed with the results. That puts it on our list with a Recommended Seal of Approval.

Here at the Gentleman’s Guide we like our wine. So when the need arises and we want to uncork a full-bodied red, what do we use to do it in style?

Bear in mind that form cannot exist without function here – after all, what use is a stylish implement if we can’t uncork our wine with it?

From a functional perspective, one of our favourites for the speed with which you can open a bottle is the Metrokane Rabbit. It works well and comes with a foil cutter as well as an extra “worm”. The problem is that it wouldn’t be classed as the most stylish implement in our utensil drawer. So if you need to open 30 bottles in a back room, this is the tool, but if you are ceremoniously uncorking a Methuselah in front of 30 people, try one of our other favourites below.

A cult favourite of ours from the 1990s is the Alessi Anna G – available in many variants and so popular it spawned a family of products, and even a successor, the Alessandro M.

For pure simplicity, a Sommelier Knife (or waiter’s friend) corkscrew is simple, effective and eminently portable. One of our favourite designs is the Chateau Laguiole Stainless Steel version.

When it comes to style and substance, our hands-down favourite has to be the “fish-style”, immortalized as either the “Lazyfish” or the Pisces corkscrew. This is effective at opening your favourite bottle, and always serves as a great talking point.

Here at the Gentleman's Guide to Style we like our photography. So what camera is a man to carry when he wants to shoot in style?

Here at the Gentleman’s Guide to Style we like our photography. So what camera is a man to carry when he wants to shoot in style?

Stylish cameras are generally hard to come by. The film market has always had some great examples, but the digital market is saturated with plastic-bodied contraptions with as much style as a 1980′s cellphone. Recently, however, there have been some examples which caught our eye.

The Olympus EP-1 is an attempt to recreate the style of the Olypus “Pen” film camera. And it partially does. It supports the micro four thirds system, which means it has a sensor which gives much better pictures than your point-and-shoot. And it allows interchangeable lenses too. And the view from the front is quite compelling. But it is as if the designers forgot their brief when it came to the back of the camera, which looks like it has been taken directly from a modern point-and-shoot.

The Panasonic GF1 is another stylish micro four thirds camera, and competes directly with the Olympus. We prefer the styling of the GF1, with it’s more minimalist, less-kitschy appearance, and Panasonic is renowned for producing great, vibrant images.

But the clear winner here, both in terms of style and capability is the Leica M9 (pictured above). Leica has always produced beautiful cameras, and with the M9 you can literally see the pedigree stretching all the way back to the M3 of 1954. It is an 18 megapixel full frame Rangefinder camera, and camera and 50mm lens weigh less than many digital SLR bodies without lenses. The portability and style make it the ultimate travel camera, and the fact that Cartier Bresson used to shoot with a Leica makes it even more compelling.

Here at the Gentleman's Guide to Style we like to travel, especially when it involves a nice long weekend to Naples or New York. So what bag do you take that allows you to pack just the right amount of gear in style?

Here at the Gentleman’s Guide to Style we love to travel, especially when it involves a nice long weekend to Naples or New York. So what bag do you take that allows you to pack just the right amount of gear in style?

For us it is usually an “Overnighter” or a “Weekender”, and there are a number of favourites we have. Johnston and Murphy, well-known for it’s shoes, has a number of great luggage pieces we like, including the 1850 Collection Duffle and the 20″ Satchel. British company Pickett offers a very nice selection including their leather Weekender. Glaser Designs and Floto also offer some nice leather pieces. However, the ones that really caught our eye were:

The Mulholland Vintage Waxed Canvas Safari bag
Mulholland started their family business 20 years ago, and have been offering luggage combining functionality and style ever since. We particularly like the classic styling and sturdy canvas material used for their Vintage Safari bag. And it would look right at home in the back of the Maserati GranCabrio.

Puma Heritage Grip Bag
The Puma Archive collection provides a fresh look on some classic designs. Their Heritage Grip is no exception – an old-school duffle with some classic styling hints, especially those rope handles. Something to take on a boys weekend to Dublin.

Renowned luggage designer Bill Amberg has teamed up with one of our favourite brands of blended whisky to create a collection of luxury travel accessories for men. The bags epitomise craftsmanship, quality and rarity – they include the “Weekender”, the “Traveller”, and our personal favourite, the “Overnighter” (pictured), which includes a complimentary bottle of Blue Label to make that weekend trip a little more enjoyable.

We like stylish timepieces, and as many of those timepieces are automatic in nature, it means that unless you only own one, you are going to need a watch winder to keep your watch(es) wound.

The first practical example of a self-winding or automatic watch is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch of 1931. It took technology that had been successfully used and improved upon it to make a watch which would stay wound for 35 hours.

Automatic watches have been in mainstream use since the 1960s, and as a result, watch winders began to become popular for those individuals fortunate to own more than one self-winding watch. Watch winders sell in relatively low quantities, which means that they can be somewhat expensive. They are available in single or multiple rotator configurations, and are really a device of convenience – allowing you to switch watches without having to go through the process of winding, setting the date, adjusting the moon phase etc. on your dormant watch.

Traditionally, many have been designed to look more like a jewellery case than anything you might want in your dressing room. One recent arrival, and without a doubt one of our favourites, is the beautiful and minimalistic Swiss Kubik winder. Firstly, the design is much more in keeping with the type of style we prefer, and secondly, it is programmable via USB port, so you can determine the number of rotations per day as well as the direction of rotation, which fulfils the geek in us.
